Toyota is ready with its forthcoming Venza Hybrid as a new arrival for the 2021 model year. It is solely available as a hybrid with an electronic all-wheel-drive on-demand system, the powerful Venza powertrain is bundled in a stylish midsize crossover chassis, placing it above RAV4 and below Highlander within the range of the company.
It rides on the Toyota New Global Architecture K (TNGA-K) platform, which Toyota claims is expected to achieve the highest NHTSA safety ratings. The 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and three electric motors produce a combined output o219 horsepower, which is transmitted to all wheels via an electronic continuous variable transmission. Toyota Venza Hybrid 2021 Review and Specifications: The Driving Impression
Let’s get started with the engine. The Venza is only available with a single powertrain. The hybrid integrates three electric motors with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder DOHC engine to produce 219 hp paired with a 176 hp and 163 lb-ft gas engine on its own. Electric motor output is 118 hp/149 lb-ft in the front and 54 hp/89 lb-ft in the back. Predictably, the new Venza is driving a lot like the last RAV4 Hybrid that share the same drivetrain and platform. This is not to suggest that the two are alike.
With the Venza, Toyota has introduced more sound-decaying products, boosting one of our most important grips with the RAV4 Hybrid, its road noise. Driven on the highway, the Venza sounds much quieter than its more mainstream relatives. No one would call it a sporty one but thanks to MacPherson’s front and multi-link rear suspension, the Venza has a wonderful combination of on-demand all-wheel drive and Active Cornering Assist, which uses stability control to eliminate understeer. This suspension setup also makes Venza travel smoothly on rugged roads without jumping around or disturbing harmony. In addition, drivers are given a range of choices, such as Eco, Regular and Sport modes.
The Exterior of Toyota Venza
Due to the sloping roofline, the Venza has fewer boxy proportions than its related RAV4 twin. The seamless lines are reminiscent of the Lexus, which is not a bad thing, and elements like the smart LED DRLs in the front and the horizontally stretched taillights are able to give it a personal touch to the car. The base LE sits on 18-inch alloy wheels and features a black rear spoiler, a hands-free power lift and self-folding mirrors.
Higher up in the series, the Venza has larger 19-inch alloy wheels and LED projector headlights, as well as body-color spoilers and body trim. The Venza is available in a number of exterior color options that belong to gorgeous conservative color palettes. The available colors are Coastal Gray, Metallic, Titanium Glow and Blueprint. Added-cost shades include Blizzard Pearl, Celestial Black (not available on the LE) and the more vivid Ruby Flare Pearl. The Interior and Cargo Space
Within the cabin, Venza is a cut above RAV4 in terms of content consistency, infringing on the territory of Lexus. All looks and feels made to last and the distinct hourglass-shaped console provides the driver and the front occupants a cocooning protection. The dual-tone color scheme, which is available higher up in the range, brings the feeling of luxury up a few more spots. That said the cabin is not much larger than the RAV4’s.
On the LE base, features such as an 8-inch touchscreen, an 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, fabric-trimmed seats, road sign assist, and blind spot monitoring are standard features. Given its extra length over the RAV4, the Venza trunk is smaller. It measures 28.8 cubic feet behind the rear seats, pretty much smaller RAV4 Hybrid This is partly due to the Venza car-like sloping roofline.
It’s always going to be enough for a weekly shop or a little family paraphernalia for a weekend away, though. The interior storage room is fine, with four cup holders and four bottle holders, including cup holders on the rear center armrest. There is also a center console with a 12V input and a removable utility tray.
The Venza Infotainment and Features
Toyota limited Venza to only three trims. The LE base has a 4.2-inch multi-information monitor, wireless phone charging, LED headlights and taillights, rear-view camera, and the Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 suite, which includes pre-collision warning, full-speed dynamic radar cruise control, lane departure detection, and lane monitoring assistance.
Let’s move on the mid-range XLE that adds a 7-inch multi-information display, heated front seats, a self-dimming rearview mirror, a driver’s seat memory feature, and a smart key system for all doors and tailgates. The range-topping Limited features a digital rearview mirror with HomeLink, heated and ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel and a bird’s eye view camera. It is no wonder that Ford decides to power the car with the V-6 engine as it really contributes greatly to the performance of the GT supercar. While abandoning the preceding Raptor’s thumping V-8 might seem profane to purists, the new truck’s 450-hp twin-turbo V-6 is bonkers. Finding the right gear can sometimes fumbles even though the car has a very powerful transmission, but it sometimes fumbles to find the right gear. This high-performance pickup from Ford is a totally street legal racer.
The 2021 Toyota Venza is obviously not the shrunken two-row Highlander that some people desired or intended to be. If cargo room is your number one priority, you can pick one of the more spacious midsize arrays, such as Chevy Blazer, Honda Passport, Nissan Murano or Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport, to name a few. But Venza is not a disappointment, despite its lack of space.
