Not only 5 Series, but the BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo was also launched at the end of this May. Prepared as a 2021 model, the 6 Series facelift also offers mild-hybrid technology for all its variants.
In addition to the 5 Series facelift, BMW is also refreshing the 6 Series Gran Turismo 2021 mid-size line-up which was launched simultaneously. This model is a facelift of the G32 generation which was first introduced in 2017.
In general, the appearance of the BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo 2021 looks sharper with a larger kidney grille and is combined with sharper headlights, now with BMW Laserlight technology options. The front bumper design is also made fresher with a separate lower air intake.
On the sides and back, we don’t see too many changes, although BMW claims the stern of the car is designed more elegantly to emphasize the luxurious impression of a Grand Touring. Besides, we see trapezoidal form mufflers that are standard in all variants.
Same relief, more and more features
Dimensionally, the BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo 2021 has not changed, where it still stands at 5,091 mm x 1,902 mm x 1,538 mm, with a wheelbase of 3,070 mm. Rear passenger comfort is also still a focus on this model, with the rear bench made some distance from the front seat to provide legroom and qualified headroom.
The BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo 2021 cockpit is also equipped with a BMW Live Cockpit Professional as standard. Where there are two 12.3-inch screens as an instrument display and entertainment center screen.
The button layout on the center console, and also a sports steering wheel with multifunction buttons are also present. Apart from that, you will also get a variety of driving assistance with BMW Driving Assistant Personal, which is available as optional.
By default, the 6 Series Gran Turismo facelift has an electric arrangement for the front seats, an interior with leather material. Multi-function seats and rear seats with electric backrest settings are also available as options.
Other options offered by BMW are the new interior trim, new interior lights with ambient light, four zones automatic air conditioning control, panoramic roof, sound system from Bowers & Wilkins, and the latest version of the Rear Seat Entertainment Professional System.
For luggage capacity, the BMW 6 Series Gran Touring 2021 has the same size as before, which is 600 liters when all seats stand, with a maximum capacity of 1,800 liters when the rear seats are folded.
Mild-hybrid technology is present in all variants
Under the hood, all variants of the 6 Series Gran Touring 2021 are embedded with 48V mild-hybrid technology, the engine consists of a 2,000cc turbo four-cylinder gasoline engine, a 3,000cc turbo six-cylinder engine, and a diesel engine with a similar capacity. All variants use an 8-speed automatic transmission from ZF.
The xDrive all-wheel-drive drive system is also available for all 6 Series GT variants, either as a standard or additional option. The base uses an electronically controlled multi-plate clutch, which normally works by sending power to the rear wheels, but can go forward too if needed.
