2021 Suzuki Across

Among SUVs launched this year is the Suzuki Across PHEV SUV. The new Across SUV has been recently introduced by Suzuki as a part of Suzuki and Toyota global business agreement. No wonder, therefore, that this SUV looks very familiar. It is basically a Toyota RAV4 with a new face. It has gone on sale in the UK and it will be on sale soon in other parts of the world. However, it is still too early to predict whether the Across will be as successful as its twin, the Toyota RAV4. If you are thinking about buying a reliable SUV, reading this Suzuki Across PHEV SUV 2021 review might be useful.

A Brief Suzuki Across PHEV SUV 2021 Review

The Across looks almost the same as the Toyota RAV4. This makes sense because it is the rebadged version of the RAV4. The Across is the new plug-in hybrid SUV from Suzuki which is built based on Toyota’s popular and rugged RAV4. It is a kind of large SUV offering five seats. The competitors include Mazda CX-5, Honda CR-V, and Skoda Karoq.

As the car is a tie-up between the two giant Japanese automakers. The Across is mechanically identical to the Toyota RAV4. They use exactly the same 2.5 l petrol engine contributing to 182 BHP (Brake Horse Power).  It comes with a standard FWD with four driving modes that include EV, HV, Auto EV/HV, and the last is the auto battery charger mode.

In a nutshell, the Across is the first model which is made under the collaborative business agreement between Suzuki and Toyota. The sporty SUV looks strikingly gorgeous because of the robust polygonal body that combines characteristic SUV durability and a sporty front face featuring a hefty open grille. The sale has already begun lately in the UK with very limited supplies. If the sales ran well, more supplies will be made available.

The Across VS the RAV4

Talking about the Across, it is impossible not to discuss the RAV4 as these two SUVs have many things in common. The most noticeable difference between the two cars is the front body. They have different grille, headlights, and bumper. These differences are made to help set the Suzuki apart. The rest of the exterior is the same including the alloy-wheel designs. Similar to the RAV4, the Across also offers six body colors and LED headlights.

The similarities are also found inside the car. Suzuki uses Toyota’s infotainment system with a 9-inch screen display featuring Android Auto and Apple CarPlay integration. Meanwhile, the dashboard and steering wheel are all the same. As a pioneering collaboration between Suzuki and Toyota, it is really interesting to get to know further about the SUV.

Basically, fanciness rarely becomes the main focus of the carmaker. Instead of adding some fanciness to the interior, Suzuki prefer to make the interior more practical and durable. Practicality and durability are indeed two things that are emphasized by Suzuki. Overall, the interior of the two cars is similar except the center console design and the steering wheel.

While many things are identical, the Across is leading in terms of safety and driver-assistance technology. There are some safety features that are absent in Toyota RAV4 such as traffic-sign recognition, Autonomous emergency braking, and an automatic brake hold system.

Suzuki Across PHEV SUV 2021 Interior

At the moment, the Across is being put on sale in Europe in a single high-spec tri level along with standard equipment incorporating dual-zone automatic AC, leather seats, FWD, and a powered tailgate. This model is available in 6 different fancy colors such as Sensual Red Mica, Dark Blue Mica, Attitude Black Mica, Grey Metallic, Silver Metallic, and White Pearl Crystal Shine. Every option has its own characteristic.

The beautiful and distinct exterior colors obviously grabs people attention. However, the wonderful paint color is not the only thing that makes the Across stand out among the crowds. The clever tech is the other thing that becomes the power of the Suzuki.

Pricing Information and Releasing Date

Many people cannot wait for the official release of the Across. Unfortunately, Suzuki has not announced when precisely the Across is going to be released in particular countries. Therefore, the price is some countries are still not known. The easiest thing to estimate the price is to compare with its rivals. It’s likely that it will cost almost the same as the Toyota RAV4 but a bit pricier than Mazda CX-5. It is because the existing CX-5 is not equipped with any electrified options.

The new Suzuki SUV was planned to be released in this autumn but the season will be over in a week and there haven’t been any signs about its launching date in particular areas. Probably, the Japanese automaker will release it soon in the beginning of 2021 and it will be on sale soon as well. Currently, Suzuki said that the sales of the SUV will begin in November with very limited supplies.

2021 Suzuki Across

The cost in the UK starts from £45,599 as confirmed by Suzuki. The supplies will be more widely-available after its first full year on sale. So, is the Across worth the money? The answer is obviously yes. The cash price is in line with its competitors. Moreover, the SUV offers low CO2 emissions, making it an environmentally friendly car option.

Apparently with over £45,000, you can get everything from an elegant leather interior, an electrically-powered tailgate, a heated steering wheel, and any more. So, should you buy a Suzuki Across? Considering the price that is over £45,000 (although it’s worth it), probably only a small number of people are interested in this large SUV. It means that Suzuki probably cannot beat its rivals. Moreover, the warranty is shorter and it has fewer options in terms of drivetrain and other specification.

After reading the Suzuki Across PHEV SUV 2021 above, you may want to consider its rivals which cost lower such as the Toyota RAV4 and the Subaru Forester. Mazda’s CX-5 and Honda CR-V 2020 are other reliable compact SUVs that can compete with the Across.
