Land Rover Defender 2020 Specifications and Review on the Exterior

Land Rover is well-known for its brand identity that is to combine utility and luxury. The latest Defender still maintain the brand’s identity although it is made to be more polished and modern than the last year model. With blocky headlight clusters and thick cladding around the wheel arches, the hefty, retro style looks as if it will last forever. The smaller Defender 90 is likely to cater to a younger clientele, and features LED headlights/taillights, utilitarian-looking 18-inch steel wheels, and a body-color roof in its base specification.

Other models include front fog lights, a white contrast roof, folding roof fabric, and up to 20-inch alloy wheels. The Defender X features orange brake calipers, a sliding panoramic roof, and a shiny finished black hood. With the length of more than 170 inches, the 3-door Defender 90 is a few inches longer than that of the Jeep Wrangler. It has a 101.9 inches wheelbase with a width of 79.1 inches. The dimension does not include the mirror.

The height, including the suspension, is 77.5 inches but there is an extra 0.2 inches with coil suspension. Excluding the spare wheel, the length of the Defender’s wheelbase is 118.9  inches with the same size of the width. The Defender 110 is 77.4 inches tall.

The off-road numbers matter when it comes to any Land Rover, and the Defender 110 impresses with an off-road ride height of 11.5 inches and an overall approach/departure/ramp angle of 38/40/28 degrees, respectively, at 110. The more compact Defender 90 has an upper ramp angle of 31 degrees. The raised suspension of the SUV will provide a maximum wading depth of 35.4 inches. As far as the brake weight is concerned, the lightest model is the Defender 90, with a 2.0-liter engine of 4.550 pounds, the heaviest being the Defender 110 X, with a 7-seat version that weights 5.385 lbs.

For the exterior colors, there ten options of breathtakingly wonderful colors such as Yulong White Metalic, Pangea Green Metalic, Fuji White, and many more. The names are inspired by the name of some touristic cities all over the globe. The metallic shine create magnificent visual sensation that’s really eye-pleasing.

The performance of 2021 Land Rover Defender

There are no brawny V8 engines on the lineup therefore you’re going to need a much more precious Land Rover Range Rover. The 2021 Land Rover Defender uses either 3L turbocharged 6-cylinder with mild-hybrid tech or 2L turbocharged 4-cylinder  in the lineup. This larger unit has a powerful output of 395 horsepower and 406 lb-ft of torque. Irrespective of the model, the Defender comes with standard eight-speed automatic transmission and four-wheel drive.

No version of the Defender can be identified as slow, even the heavier Defender 110 with a smaller engine running a 0 to 60 mph sprint of 7.7 seconds and a top speed of 119 mph. However, as we found in the recent analysis of the 2020 model, the six-pot is much faster. When this engine is fitted to the Defender 90, the 0-60 sprint takes just 5.7 seconds, while the top speed remains limited to only 119 mph.

The overall towing power of the Defender is based on a competitive 8.201 lbs, which can be reached by the 90 First Edition and the 110 by the six-pot. German competitors like the Audi Q5 are faster than the Defender, but they can’t tow about as much as the Land Rover and they can’t go off-road the same way the Defender can.

What does the cabin look like?

The exposed door panel rivets, solid horizontal lines, and tough materials are crucial features highly needed to determine the positioning of the car. The new generation of the Defender proves that actually the car is not a super-luxury on-road SUV that will never get its boots dirty. Instead, it was designed to tackle rough terrain effortlessly and the tough cabin is perfect for this mission.

The two models have pleased the users with their spaciousness, although the 90’s are obviously not as cavernous as the 110’s. This is no surprise, though, as the former is more than 17 inches shorter. The standard version comes with features such as dual-zone climate control, leather-covered steering wheel, semi-powered front seats, and 360-degree parking aid. The presence of these features make the car doesn’t feel too basic.

Higher up in the range, the Defender is fitted with a head-up display, wireless charging system, and heated/cooled front seats. Overall, the whole interior is a triumph and feels like it can handle the rigors of off-roading.

The Land Rover Defender 2020 specifications and review above leads to a verdict that the latest Defender is quite reliable. It is an ideal car for anyone who need a powerful SUV that can tow heavy loads. It is also dedicated to drivers who fancy a luxurious cabin and versatile seating. The Defender isn’t a car intended for people who frequently hang out in the cities. However, it’s built for those who seek a rugged, powerful, and robust car.
